Beartex-VELO

Determines p, s1 and s2 wave surfaces from stiffness tensor and ODF

For visualization it is often convenient to display the anisotropy of physical properties as velocity surfaces. VELO calculates wavespeed surfaces (s1, s2 and p) from elastic properties (stiffness tensor) and density. It is applicable to single and polycrystals. Select an input file with stiffness tensor. Default file is C:\BEARTEX\DEMO.TE4. If there are several tensors on a file (e.g. from TENS), data sets can be skipped. If the file does not exist you may create one in window.
Enter stiffness components in GPa units. Enter value for density (gm/cm**3)
velo.cfg: "Default for VELO " Olivine ! Title 2 on tensor file C:\BEARTEX\DEMO.TE4 ! Tensor file (stiffnesses) 4 ! Rank of tensor (for VELO always 4) 1.0 ! Density (g/cm**3) 0 ! number of data sets to be skipped

Exemples:

Single crystal p-wave velocity surfaces for a Ni single crystal.
Polycrystal p-wave velocity surfaces for a Ni-30%Co polycrystal alloy.
